Seven places of Kathmandu starts running under Smart Traffic Lights.

The Department of Roads (DoR), in association with Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD), has installed smart traffic lights at different seven areas of Kathmandu. The smart traffic lights are installed in New Baneshwor, Padmodaya intersection of Putalisadak, Shankar Dev intersection, Narayan Gopal Chowk of Maharajgunj, Soalteemode and in front of Kathmandu Metropolitan Office from Tuesday.

The DoA installed the smart traffic lights in New Baneshwor at the cost Rs1.4 million. The KMC spent Rs 2.7 million to install the lights at Maharajgunj.

DIG Sarbendra Khanal informed that installation of smart traffic lights would be gradually started in other places as well.

Kesharmahal, Durbar Marga, Singha Durbar, Maitighar, Kalimati, Gaushala, and Tinkune, among other places will have smart traffic lights very soon said DIG Khanal.
