Nepal’s telecoms regulator, the NTA has said that it will approve a 4G license application from Nepal Telecom, subject to the details of its rollout plan.
The company has previously indicated that it could launch 4G services within 2 months of being granted a license.
“We have asked NT to submit its plan to begin the 4G service in Nepal. We will issue the 4G licence to the company after we have gone through the its work plan thoroughly and are satisfied with its strategy,” Min Prasad Aryal, spokesperson for NTA told The Himalayan Times.
Nepal Telecom’s two rival operators, Ncell and Smart Telecom have also requested 4G licenses. Ncell’s application is said to be close to approval, but Smart Telecom’s application was reportedly rejected by the regulator.
